How Much Does Pest Control Cost?

Pest control costs $300 to $550 for a one-time general visit on a 1,500 square foot home, based on Angi’s figures. Once you’re on a plan, monthly visits cost $40 to $70 or quarterly visits $100 to $300, after a first visit of $150 to $300. The pest changes the bill more than anything else. Bed bugs and termites need more labor, more product and follow-up visits, so they cost several times a standard ant or spider call.

General, rodent, bed bug, wasp and mosquito ranges are Angi’s national figures. Termite figures come from HomeGuide’s cost guide.

JobTypical price
One-time general visit (1,500 sq ft home)$300 to $550
Quarterly plan$100 to $300 per visit, after a $150 to $300 first visit
Rodent removal and sealing$180 to $600
Wasp or hornet nest removal$300 to $700
Mosquito yard treatment$350 to $500
Bed bug treatment$1,000 to $4,000
Termite liquid treatment$500 to $2,000
Termite tent fumigation$2,000 to $8,000

One-Time Pest Treatment or a Quarterly Plan?

A one-time pest treatment makes sense for a single problem with a clear end: a wasp nest, a mouse that got into the garage, a flea outbreak after a new pet. You pay $300 to $550 once on an average-size home and you’re done.

A quarterly plan at $100 to $300 per visit fits pests that come back with the seasons, like ants every spring, scorpions in the desert or stink bugs every fall. Over a year that’s $400 to $1,200, so it only pays off when you’d otherwise book two or more one-time visits a year.

Skip the plan for bed bugs and termites. Those need their own targeted treatment, and a general quarterly spray won’t touch them.

How much does a pest control visit cost?

A one-time general visit costs $300 to $550 for a 1,500 square foot home, according to Angi’s figures. That covers common pests like ants, spiders and most roaches. Bigger homes cost more.

Specialty jobs cost more: rodent sealing runs $180 to $600, bed bugs $1,000 to $4,000, and termite tenting $2,000 to $8,000.

How often should you get pest control?

Once is enough for a one-off problem like a single wasp nest. Pests that return every season, like ants, scorpions or stink bugs, do better on a quarterly plan at $100 to $300 per visit.

Termites need their own yearly inspection on top of that.

Do I have to leave the house during pest control?

For most indoor visits, no. Stay out of treated rooms until sprays dry, which takes a few hours. Baits and dusts barely leave anything in the air.

Tent fumigation for termites is the big exception. Everyone, pets included, moves out for two to three days.

How do I check a pest control company’s license?

Every state we cover runs a public license lookup through its agriculture or pest control board. Each of our city pages links to the right agency for that state.

Ask for the license number before the visit and search it. A real company won’t mind.

Can I just treat pests myself?

For small, single problems, often yes. Ant baits, snap traps and a can of wasp spray at dusk handle plenty.

Bed bugs, termites, German roaches in an apartment and rodents that keep coming back need a pro. DIY on those tends to spread the problem or let it grow while you wait.
